An 11-month prison sentence for a 47-year-old for harassing an 18-year-old on a ship in Kyllini was imposed following a flagrante delicto trial, after his arrest by the Coast Guard.
The road to prison is taken by a 47-year-old man, who sexually harassed an 18-year-old girl inside a ship operating the Kefalonia – Kyllini route.
According to information from Patris News, the incident occurred on the evening of last Saturday, on the passenger ship that had departed from Sami Kefalonia
The ship’s captain informed the Kyllini Port Authority that a foreign man, a citizen of Albania, with lewd acts offended the sexual dignity of a compatriot of his, an 18-year-old student, at the moment when both were in airline-type seats, specifically while the victim was sleeping.
The act of the 47-year-old accused was noticed by the girl’s father and other passengers, and after the captain informed the officers of the Coast Guard, the man was placed under surveillance by the ship’s personnel, until it arrived at the port of Kyllini.
Upon the ship’s departure, officers of the Kyllini Coast Guard Authority immediately arrested the 47-year-old, forming a case file against him for the offense of offending sexual dignity.
The accused was brought before the Amaliada First Instance Prosecutor who, after initiating criminal prosecution against him for this specific offense, which is prosecuted as a misdemeanor, referred him to be tried within the framework of the flagrante delicto procedure.
The flagrante delicto trial took place on the morning of Monday, September 1, with the 47-year-old being found guilty and sentenced to an 11-month prison term.
The accused will serve one month of imprisonment in a penitentiary of the country, while the remainder of the sentence will be suspended until the appeal hearing.
