Shipping industry news, Greek tanker owner Okeanis Eco Tankers (OET) officially announced on November 19 that it has agreed to purchase two 157,000 deadweight ton Suezmax tankers under construction for a price of $97 million each.

Specifically, OET disclosed that, amid strong demand, it has successfully raised $115 million through a follow-on public offering. These funds will be used as part of the consideration for acquiring the two Suezmax tankers currently under construction at DH Shipbuilding, with delivery expected in January 2026. The acquisition price is $97 million per vessel.

OET did not disclose the specific seller. Market sources stated that this move indicates OET prefers “immediate ownership” over ordering newbuildings while the Suezmax tanker market continues to be profitable. It is reported that the seller is believed to be related to Atlas Maritime, and OET paid an “attractive” price for the resale.

As of now, OET owns a fleet of 14 scrubber-fitted tankers, comprising 6 modern Suezmax tankers (average age 7.0 years) and 8 modern VLCCs (average age 5.4 years).
