On June 4, Fujian Shipping Group and Nantong Xiangyu Marine Equipment Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for a project involving four 62,000-ton multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels.
Leaders from Fujian Port Group, Mawei District Government, China Classification Society Fuzhou Branch, Fujian Provincial Port and Shipping Development Center, Fuzhou Transportation Bureau, Fuzhou Waterway Transportation Development Center, and Mawei Town Government attended the ceremony as witnesses. The ceremony was presided over by Chen Xiaobin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Fujian Shipping Group. Wu Liangqi, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Fujian Shipping Group, and Zhu Ling, Member of the Party Committee and Assistant General Manager of Nantong Xiangyu Marine Equipment Co., Ltd., delivered speeches respectively.
The four 62,000-ton multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels signed this time combine the economy of bulk carriers with the flexibility of heavy-lift vessels. The four heavy-duty cranes have a combined lifting capacity of 300 tons, capable of easily lifting an entire wind turbine nacelle or shield machine components weighing hundreds of tons. With a hull length of nearly 200 meters and a cargo hold capacity exceeding 75,000 cubic meters, they can efficiently transport bulk cargo and general cargo, meeting the higher demands on shipping capacity posed by the current adjustments in the global shipping landscape and the group’s diversified business development.
The signing of this project marks a new milestone in the development history of Fujian Shipping Group, signifying the official launch of the group’s blue ocean strategy of “high-value-added fleet operations and global project logistics services.” It is also a major measure to deepen the implementation of the group’s integrated “port, shipping, and trade” strategic deployment, which will further promote the group’s leapfrog new development in its future market layout.
It is understood that Fujian Shipping Group Co., Ltd. is a wholly state-owned enterprise under Fujian Port Group, established on February 17, 1986, with a history traceable back to the Fujian Provincial Shipping Administration Bureau founded in 1950. It is the shipping enterprise registered in Fujian Province with the most comprehensive ship types and the largest transport capacity.
Excluding the latest orders, Clarksons data shows that Xiangyu Shipbuilding currently holds an orderbook totaling 120 vessels, amounting to 8.1395 million deadweight tons, including 91 bulk carriers, 25 oil tankers, 2 container ships, and 2 offshore vessels, with delivery schedules extending to 2029.
