On June 29, the third 7000-unit dual-fuel car carrier “PCC Kilimanjaro” (W0308) built by China Merchants Shipbuilding (Weihai) for Pinnacle Car Carriers (PCC) was completed and delivered.
The vessel has a length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.6 meters, and a speed of 19 knots. The ship is equipped with 12 car decks, with a loading capacity of 7,000 family cars. The car decks are divided into fixed and movable types, significantly improving cargo handling efficiency and the economic benefits of ship operation. In terms of environmental protection, the vessel adopts a green, energy-saving, and eco-friendly design concept, featuring an advanced LNG dual-fuel system and shaft generator system, and employs multiple environmental technologies. It can significantly reduce emissions of sulfur oxides, particulate matter, and carbon, meeting the IMO TIER III emission standards, and offers advantages in economy, energy saving, environmental protection, and efficiency.
China Merchants Shipbuilding (Weihai) stated that the completion and delivery of this vessel will help PCC accelerate the upgrading of its fleet toward younger, greener, and lower-carbon operations, laying the foundation for further deepening strategic cooperation between the two sides, jointly implementing the “dual carbon” development strategy, and empowering the green transformation of the global shipping industry.
As of now, China Merchants Shipbuilding (Weihai) has delivered a total of 9 car carriers, advancing from batch production to lean manufacturing.
