9 sailors were rescued after the sinking of their ship in the Persian Gulf, when the freighter Sana sank near the island of Kish.

The worst was avoided when on September 24, the freighter ship Sana partially sank in the Persian Gulf, approximately 2 miles south of the island of Kish, in Iran. Fortunately, all nine crew members were rescued by the Iranian authorities.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. local time, when the ship carrying 2,500 tons of white cement was en route from Ras Al Khaimah, in the United Arab Emirates, to Shuaiba, in Kuwait.

According to information, the ship encountered a major water ingress, causing it to sink very quickly. The crew issued a distress signal, with the Iranian authorities responding very quickly.

A rescue vessel arrived at the scene, which safely evacuated the crew members, with no injuries reported.

The authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. There are concerns about potential marine pollution from the ship.
