Two StratCat 27 (SC27) Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) have been sold by Strategic Marine (S) Pte Ltd to Manor Renewable Energy (MRE), a renowned provider of renewable energy services in the UK. The MRE Group, which offers a variety of survey and positioning services as well as a fleet of vessels for offshore wind projects all around the world, has just received its first sale.
The SC27 was developed by Strategic Marine and its design partner BMT, and it was introduced in May lastyear. The vessel, which has received widespread industry support, satisfies the growing demand of the offshore wind sector for enhanced vessel capabilities with a lower environmental impact and hybrid drive options.

The layout of the ship’s bridge deck has been altered to give the helm better view and an ergonomic layout to increase comfort for the bridge personnel. With plenty of storage, cosy sleeping quarters, and business class seating, the internal arrangements have been enhanced for greater comfort and workflow using real-world feedback from vessel operators and customers.
Two superstructure configurations for either 24 or 12 technicians are available for the SC27. In comparison to the StratCat 26, the larger asymmetric version offers a 30% area increase in the main deck cabin, while the smaller version gives the ship less than 200GT, which in some jurisdictions allows for a smaller crew and hence lower OPEX.
Following the global pandemic, the SC27 has been built to meet the necessary Classification Society biosafety and environmentally friendly notations, including the Green Passport for ship recycling, and to lessen the danger of infectious disease and its impact on the environment.
The order with MRE reflects Strategic Marine’s rising reputation for dependable, high-quality vessels developed for a specific environment and customised to our clients’ needs, says Mr. Hans Randklev, General Manager, Commercial at Strategic Marine.
“Our feedback from customers is overwhelmingly positive and our new business wins clearly reflect our growing reputation for excellent manufacturing, on time delivery and strict adherence to budget.”
The vessel’s architecture offers several hybrid and propulsion alternatives. Both ships are “hybrid ready,” enabling the addition of a hybrid propulsion system in the future if necessary.
