Perro Negro 11 is now officially part of the Saipem offshore drilling fleet. In line with Saipem’s asset-light strategy, the jack-up was chartered on a bareboat basis and committed to a five-year contract, with an additional two-year option, in the Middle East.
In addition, CIMC Raffles and Saipem signed a memorandum of understanding to explore future business opportunities in the offshore drilling, construction and new energy segments.
In late June, Saipem was awarded contracts worth US$1.25Bn, split between onshore and offshore work. Regarding the offshore work, Saipem signed four major new offshore contracts in the Middle East worth approximately US$650M. The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of several offshore jackets, decks, subsea pipelines, subsea composite cables, umbilicals, fibre-optic cables and brownfield modifications.
