Britannia, Swedish Club and Japan Club have advised members that the People’s Republic of China has issued a notice of military exercises and training activities, including live-fire drills, which are due to take place from 1200 (UTC +8) August 4th until 1200 (UTC +8) August 7th.
The Clubs warned that the designated areas were very close to Taiwan Area’s major commercial ports, including Keelung, Suao, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Anping, Hoping and Hualien, and therefore the navigation and safety of shipping might be affected.
Members with ships in the vicinity of these exercises during this period were advised to alert their masters accordingly and to seek clarification from their local agents as necessary.
