– Haeju Bulk Terminal: Handles coal/cement, max draft 9.0m, conveyor capacity 800MT/hr, 2 ship loaders
– Haeju Oil Terminal: Restricted to state-operated tankers only, no commercial access, 2 berths (max 50,000 DWT)
1.3 All terminals have limited night navigation capabilities. Daytime operations (06:00-18:00 local time) are mandatory for vessels >5,000 GT.
1.4 Port operating days: 365 days/year but cargo operations prohibited on DPRK national holidays (advance notice required).
1.5 Port infrastructure limitations:
– No shore power available (vessels must use auxiliary engines)

– Tug assistance mandatory for vessels >10,000 DWT (2 tugs minimum)
2. Navigation and Pilotage
2.1 Compulsory pilotage zone extends 3nm from port entrance. Pilot boarding area at 38°01’N 125°42’E (marked by yellow buoy with topmark “X”).
2.2 Channel dimensions (per DPRK Maritime Safety Agency Chart #234):
– Main channel: 150m width, dredged to 9.5m (CD), silting rate 0.5m/month
– Secondary channel: 80m width, depth 7.0m (for vessels <5,000 DWT)
– Turning basin diameter: 300m (minimum maneuvering area for Panamax vessels)
2.3 Critical navigation marks (WGS-84 datum):
– Entrance light (Fl R 4s) at breakwater head (38°00.5’N 125°43.2’E)
– Leading lights (F.G) bearing 274° for channel alignment (rear light elevation 85m)
– Sector light (RWG) marks hazardous shoal at 125°44’E
2.4 Pilot ladder requirements: Must comply with IMO Resolution A.1045(27), positioned 1.5m above water at boarding point.
2.5 Restricted areas:
– Military zone within 1nm of 38°03’N 125°45’E (marked by red buoys)
