Vessel and container tracking IoT company ORBCOMM has agreed a multi-year partnership with Samsung-owned HARMAN to support development of its asset intelligence technology, including the establishment of a new extended development centre in Bangalore, India.

The collaboration will see HARMAN Digital Transformation Solutions provide support for ORBCOMM’s asset tracking systems through data engineering and platform development, with a particular focus on areas such as data modernisation, industrial AI, and analytics.

The Bangalore site will form part of ORBCOMM’s expanded R&D operations to support global customers in shipping and other sectors.

“By combining HARMAN’s strength in advanced analytics and connectivity with ORBCOMM’s proven expertise in IoT-driven asset management, the extended development centre in Bangalore is expected to catalyse innovation to deliver smarter, more resilient industrial IoT solutions for global supply chain and cold chain markets,” said Udaya Shrivastava, Chief Technology & Information Officer at ORBCOMM.
