On July 8, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Limited announced the appointment of its Chairman, Non-Executive Director, Chairman of the Nomination Committee, and Chairman of the Strategy and Sustainable Development Committee.
The announcement stated that CNOOC reviewed and approved the proposal regarding the appointment of the Chairman, Non-Executive Director, and Chairpersons of the Board’s sub-committees on July 8, 2025. Effective from July 8, Zhang Chuanjiang has been appointed as the Company’s Chairman, Non-Executive Director, Chairman of the Nomination Committee, and Chairman of the Strategy and Sustainable Development Committee.
Zhang Chuanjiang will serve until the date of CNOOC’s 2025 Annual General Meeting and will be eligible for re-election at that meeting.
According to his resume, Zhang Chuanjiang was born in 1968 and holds the title of Professor-level Senior Engineer with a Master’s degree in Engineering. He previously served as Deputy General Manager and General Manager of China Shenhua Coal-to-Liquid and Chemical Company’s Ordos Coal-to-Liquid Branch, Chairman of China Shenhua Coal-to-Liquid and Chemical Company, and concurrently as Director of the Chemical Industry Operation Management Center of the National Energy Group. From March 2020 to July 2020, he served as Chairman of National Energy Group Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd. From July 2020 to April 2024, he was Deputy General Manager of China Datang Corporation. From April 2024 to June 2025, he served as Director and General Manager of China Datang Corporation. Since June 2025, he has been Chairman of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) Group, Chairman and President of Overseas Oil & Gas Corporation, Ltd., and Chairman of CNOOC (BVI) Limited.
