Recently, the construction progress of the Zhenhai Port Area Navigation Capacity Enhancement Project (Phase II), undertaken by CCCC Shanghai Waterway Bureau Water Conservancy Company, has surpassed the halfway mark.

The project aims to achieve one-way navigation for 20,000-ton vessels in the main channel and two-way tide-assisted navigation for 3,000-ton vessels in the auxiliary channel by widening, deepening, and extending the auxiliary channel downstream of the Zhaobaoshan Bridge in the Yongjiang Waterway. The total planned dredging volume exceeds 3.35 million cubic meters. Since commencement, the project team has scientifically formulated a dredging plan, accurately accounted for the tidal patterns of the Yongjiang River, and deployed multiple vessels and equipment to advance construction in an orderly manner. To date, over 1.8 million cubic meters of dredging has been completed.

Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance the navigation capacity of the Zhenhai Port Area and the Yongjiang Waterway, alleviate current vessel congestion in the existing channel, ensure safe navigation for passing ships, and improve the port’s throughput capacity.
