Wuhan, July 24 (Xinhua) — Wuhan Maritime Safety Administration and Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration signed a memorandum of cooperation (hereinafter referred to as the “Memorandum”) on the “direct service” for the export of the “new three” products in Wuhan on the 24th. This marks the official opening of a new efficient, convenient, and green export channel—the Wuhan-Xiamen rail-sea intermodal transport route for “new three” goods.

In recent years, global demand for China’s “new three” products—electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, and photovoltaic products—has continued to rise. Wuhan is an important new energy vehicle production base in Central China, but new energy vehicles face bottlenecks in export transportation, such as repeated inspections at transshipment ports, limited export channels, and high logistics costs. After in-depth research and consultation, Wuhan Maritime Safety Administration and Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration decided to jointly establish a new cooperation mechanism for safety supervision and service guarantees for the Wuhan-Xiamen rail-sea intermodal transport of “new three” goods.

The Memorandum states that the maritime authorities of Wuhan and Xiamen will strengthen information-sharing mechanisms, conduct precise end-to-end supervision of cargo transportation through remote joint inspections, and ensure “no container change, no unpacking, and one-container-through” from packing to ocean shipment, achieving mutual recognition of maritime supervision results between the port of origin and the transshipment port. The two regions will also open a green channel, providing enterprises with a “one-stop” full-chain service model to eliminate unnecessary procedures and steps, improve customs clearance efficiency, and significantly reduce logistics costs for businesses.

The first shipment of the Wuhan-Xiamen “direct service” for the “new three” products was loaded and dispatched from Phase II of the Yangluo International Port rail-water intermodal transport hub in Wuhan on the 24th. After more than 40 hours of rail transport, the goods will arrive at Xiamen Yuanhai Container Terminal for loading onto ocean vessels. This reduces logistics time by 5–7 days from factory to export and saves approximately 600 yuan per container in logistics costs. It is estimated that this will save enterprises over 100 million yuan in transportation costs annually. (End)
