During the first six months of the year, Molslinjen transported 645,859 cars between Jutland and Zealand, which is about 5,000 more cars than the previous record half-year in 2022. Analyses show that it is a particular type of car contributing to the growth:

“We can see that the proportion of electric cars on the ferries is increasing sharply. The ferry trip clearly removes the well-known range anxiety among electric car owners,” says Molslinjen’s Commercial Director, Lucas Kragh.

As of July 2025, there are 436,279 registered electric cars in Denmark, corresponding to approximately 15 percent of Danish passenger cars.

Just in June 2025, the proportion of electric cars on the ferries was as high as 27.7 percent. A significant growth compared to June last year, when the share of electric cars was 17.2 percent.

Molslinjen’s share of electric cars has generally increased by 10.5 percentage points over the past year.

“This means electric car owners can see the advantage of saving on miles driven as well as saving time by not having to charge during a busy daily routine,” says Lucas Kragh.
