ABS Wavesight has launched a new integrated platform to help shipowners manage compliance and efficiency while also appointing Captain Steve Bomgardner as Chief Customer Officer. The company gives importance to both innovation and stronger client engagement.

ABS Wavesight, the maritime software-as-a-service company affiliated with ABS, has unveiled a new digital platform, ABS Wavesight Advantage, while also appointing industry veteran Captain Stephen (Steve) Bomgardner as Chief Customer Officer. The dual announcements underscore the company’s strategy of combining advanced digital solutions with a stronger focus on client engagement.

ABS Wavesight Advantage is presented as a single, intelligent platform designed to simplify compliance, unify operations, and drive efficiency across fleets. The company described it as a “single source of truth” connecting vessels, shore teams, and systems with real-time validated data. It includes features such as emissions pooling, benchmarking, digital submission of compliance data for verification, and predictive analytics to support decision-making.

“In an industry where every ton and every ton-mile matters, the pressure to reduce emissions, improve utilization, and streamline compliance is constant,” said Christopher J. Wiernicki, ABS Chairman and CEO. “ABS Wavesight Advantage is built on the power of one—one intelligent, connected platform—because every savings counts. With every metric ton of CO2 saved and each extra day of vessel utilization, the outcome is clear: real impact, real fast.”

Staci Satterwhite, CEO of ABS Wavesight, said the new platform is designed to give operators clarity in a fast-changing regulatory environment. “In today’s rapidly evolving regulatory landscape, shipowners, operators, and charterers need more than raw data—they need clarity they can act on,” she said. “Our platform delivers actionable clarity through a single source of validated emissions data and the ability to strategically manage pooling across fleets. It’s how we help the entire maritime value chain turn compliance pressure into aligned, confident decision-making and measurable performance improvements.”

The company’s emphasis on customer value is also reflected in the appointment of Captain Bomgardner, who will lead ABS Wavesight’s customer success strategy. As Chief Customer Officer, he will focus on enhancing client engagement, retention, and value realization at a time when digital adoption is accelerating in shipping.

“Steve’s extensive expertise and proven leadership in delivering customer-centric solutions will be instrumental as we continue to strengthen our client relationships and drive measurable outcomes,” said Satterwhite.

Captain Bomgardner brings more than two decades of maritime leadership experience. Before joining ABS Wavesight, he was Vice President of Shipping & Offshore Solutions at Pole Star Global, where he oversaw the integration of advanced vessel analytics into established tracking platforms. His earlier career included senior roles with the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) and the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), where he created and managed the Offshore & Gas Technology Department. He also spent 15 years in offshore drilling operations and holds a degree in Marine Transportation from Texas A&M University as well as an MBA from Georgetown University.

“I’m honored to join ABS Wavesight at such a pivotal time in its growth,” said Captain Bomgardner. “With decades of maritime experience, I’m excited to help strengthen our customer relationships and deliver innovative solutions that support operational excellence across the industry.”

ABS Wavesight’s portfolio of digital products is installed on more than 5,000 vessels worldwide. By pairing the launch of its new platform with the appointment of a senior executive dedicated to customer success, the company is in commitment to both technological innovation and long-term client support.
