Qingdao Port and Huaguang Natural Power have reached a strategic cooperation to jointly develop shore power and ship charging projects

A few days ago, Qingdao Port International Co., Ltd. and Huaguang Natural Power Holdings Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly develop a new business model for electric ships, promote the construction of green shipping corridors, and develop shore power networks.

According to the agreement, the two parties will jointly build a global shore power service network to provide an integrated, one-stop, and environmentally friendly shore power supply solution for international shipping customers. This move aims to reduce carbon emissions in the shipping industry and support the industry’s broader energy transition.

Qingdao Port will work closely with Huaguang Natural Power in the development of shore power in Hong Kong and talent exchanges. Qingdao Port will share its experience and resources in shore power development to support Huaguang Natural Power in initiating and implementing shore power infrastructure projects in Hong Kong. The scope of cooperation covers project planning, technical solutions, investment and financing models, construction and commissioning, operation models, training and personnel exchanges, etc.

In addition, Huaguang Natural Power will leverage its international network and partnerships to support Qingdao Port in establishing cooperation with major ports and shipping parties in Europe, North America and other strategic regions. The two parties will be committed to promoting joint initiatives to reduce carbon emissions and mitigate emissions, jointly create interconnected green shipping corridors, and further enhance the international influence and brand reputation of Qingdao Port.
