Between January and July of the year 2025, containerized banana exports showed a notable dynamic in destinations such as Italy and Slovenia, where the demand for this Colombian fruit increased by 101.3% and 83.2%, respectively. Europe is a key region for this sector.
At the close of the first semester of 2025, total agricultural exports totaled 1.71 million tons, 4.1% more than in
2024. Bananas, which account for 77% of this sector, grew 1.3% in its exports, sustaining optimism for the export dynamic towards the end of the year thanks to a possible increase in production.
The good performance of refrigerated banana exports was mainly driven by the increase in volumes moved from Turbo, which by the end of July 2025 exported 31,432 containers, 31.8% more than in 2024, representing 52% of the national total of this fruit.
For its part, the Santa Marta Port Society also recorded an outstanding result, with a growth of 21.4% in its banana exports.
