On September 17, during the 2025 Nantong Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering Exhibition, the Nantong Municipal People’s Government and Bureau Veritas (China) Co., Ltd. reached a strategic cooperation agreement. Based on their complementary advantages, the two parties will jointly promote the green and intelligent upgrading of Nantong’s shipbuilding and equipment industry to enhance its international competitiveness. Ling Yi, Vice Mayor of the Nantong Municipal People’s Government, and Claude Maillot, Senior Vice President of BV Group and President of Bureau Veritas (BV) Asia Pacific and China, attended the event.
Ling Yi stated that Nantong is located at the core intersection of the two national advanced manufacturing clusters for shipbuilding and offshore engineering in the Tong-Tai-Yang region and Shanghai, and has formed significant advantages in shipbuilding and offshore manufacturing fields such as LNG and offshore wind power. The cooperation between the two parties will help transform Nantong’s shipbuilding, offshore engineering, and equipment industries towards high-end, intelligent, and green development, aiming to build a global green and intelligent shipbuilding and offshore engineering manufacturing base. It will effectively promote the application of new energy technologies such as LNG-powered ships and methanol-fueled ships, achieve ship energy efficiency optimization and emission reduction goals, and enhance the industry’s intelligent manufacturing level.
Claude Maillot stated that Bureau Veritas is one of the founding members of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) and a leading classification society and offshore engineering inspection organization in the industry. Through ship classification, inspection and certification, technical consulting, and digital innovation solutions, we continuously promote the sustainable development of global shipping, offshore engineering, renewable energy, and related manufacturing fields. Taking this signing as a new starting point, Bureau Veritas will further deepen its presence in the Nantong market, actively introduce internationally advanced shipbuilding and offshore technologies, assist the local industry in achieving green and intelligent transformation, and enhance its international competitiveness. We will also increase resource investment in Nantong, promote local employment, and jointly cultivate high-level professionals in ship design, inspection and testing, green manufacturing, and other fields to build a technical team with international standards.
