Minerva Marine has placed an order for two additional feeder container ships at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, bringing the total number of confirmed orders in its newbuilding program to six.

The shipping company, led by Andreas Martinos, has now confirmed the construction of another two 1,800 TEU vessels at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, following previous orders for two at Yangzijiang and two at Huanghai Shipyard. The agreements also include options for two additional ships at each yard, potentially increasing the total order count to eight.

According to newbuilding brokers in Athens, these vessels are expected to use conventional fuel, with each ship costing between $30 million and $33 million. Deliveries are scheduled from late 2027 through 2028.

Minerva entered the container shipping sector in 2022, initially ordering feeder ships at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. According to ship sale and purchase data, since late 2024, the company has also expanded its fleet through the secondhand market, acquiring four container ships ranging in size from 1,780 to 2,430 TEU.
