Paceco Corp., together with Mitsui E&S have announced a contract to supply two new ship-to-shore (STS) cranes to Total Terminals International, LLC (TTI) at the Port of Long Beach, United States.

The new cranes, which will be manufactured in Japan, will include key US-made components supplied by US companies. This contract demonstrates how Paceco and Mitsui E&S are working to diversify supply chains while simultaneously ensuring that local terminal operators continue to have access to first-class equipment.

“This order reinforces the shift currently taking place in the US container handling market. For decades, terminals relied heavily on Chinese manufacturers. Today, Paceco and Mitsui E&S are demonstrating that reliable alternatives exist that meet the needs of US ports and support the broader goals of national security and supply chain resilience,” stated Troy Collard, Paceco’s General Sales Manager.

The new cranes are based on Paceco’s standardized design approach, refined through previous deliveries to terminals in the United States and around the world. This model allows customers to benefit from a proven standard platform, while incorporating customized features tailored to their operations. TTI’s cranes will be able to service vessels of up to 24,000 TEU, among the largest in service today.

The new cranes are expected to enter service in 2027, once their manufacturing and installation are completed.

Paceco’s recent delivery of six rubber-tired gantry cranes to TTI in August, designed with a low-consumption battery-electric hybrid system, has the capability to be easily upgraded to fully emission-free operation through integration with hydrogen fuel cell solutions or shore power. This upgrade path has already been validated by Paceco’s successful deployment of the world’s first hydrogen-powered RTG crane at Yusen terminals in Los Angeles in 2024.

Collectively, these projects demonstrate how Paceco and Mitsui E&S are positioned to meet the growing demand for advanced crane solutions built with significant US components and designed in close alignment with US national security priorities, reinforcing Paceco’s role as a trusted partner for US ports, promoting opportunities for domestic job creation, strengthening supply chains, and supporting US national security priorities, while aligning with the evolution of the country’s trade policy.
