Livorno – “The ship ‘Slnc Severn,’ engaged in a logistical cooperation activity with the Camp Darby military base, will arrive in the roadstead of the port of Livorno but will probably not dock at our port, as work is underway to find and assign it a new destination. This is what was learned during the meeting held on Tuesday afternoon at the Prefecture in Livorno.” This is stated in the note from the provincial secretariat of CGIL and Filt-CGIL, signed by the respective secretaries: Gianfranco Francesee and Giuseppe Gucciardo.

At the port of Livorno, Varco Valessini, the permanent vigil called by USB continues for the third day, to prevent the American ship Slnc Severn from docking at Molo Italia, which according to the union would come from Israel with a load of caterpillars and military vehicles destined for Camp Darby, a military base of the Italian army where US military units are stationed and operate.

Vigil at Varco Valessini

“We positively evaluate the diplomatic activity implemented in these hours by Prefect Giancarlo Dionisi” – concludes the union note – “and by other local institutions with the government and the United States in order to find a solution that prevents the ship from docking in Livorno. The situation is continuously updating, for this reason the attention of the port workers remains high. The state of agitation proclaimed in recent days will therefore remain open. Cgil and Filt-Cgil will continue to monitor the situation constantly and to vigil over what will happen.”
