The Livorno shipbuilding industry demonstrates high-level technical skills and opens the doors to a new and strategic market segment: ro-ro maritime transport for vessels under 100 meters.

At the center of this evolution is the Ercolino floating dock, an asset of Gestione Bacini Spa. As communicated by Cna Livorno, the unit was recently transferred from the port of Livorno to that of La Spezia to support a complex logistics operation: the lifting of a 72-meter Sanlorenzo megayacht. The imposing load, which included the handling trolley, reached a total weight of 1700 tons. The use of Ercolino at the Ligurian shipyard is clearly linked to the launch of the same 72-meter flagship, a highly significant event for Sanlorenzo.

To make the dock fully suitable for this mission, the Livorno-based company made a significant investment in its technical and technological characteristics. The improvements effectively resolved issues related to the waterline trim, both during the ship’s entry (considering the specific height of the shipyard’s dock) and in the subsequent phase of navigation at full load.

Carlo Santucci, provincial president of Cna, expressed satisfaction with the operation: “This is yet another positive result for Livorno shipbuilding, which confirms the high professionalism developed by local companies serving the nautical sector.” In the coming weeks, Ercolino will be back in action to assist in the final launch phase of the same megayacht.

The modernization intervention and the subsequent use in La Spezia, the association reports, do not constitute an isolated operation, as it allows Gestione Bacini Spa to actively position itself in the ro-ro market for the transport and handling of naval units with a length of less than 100 meters; a move that represents a concrete expansion of the company’s business and promises to strengthen the presence and diversification of Livorno shipbuilding in the national nautical landscape.
