Princess Cruises launches new Sphere-class ship Star Princess on inaugural Mediterranean voyage

Princess Cruises has launched the maiden voyage of its newest Sphere-class ship, Star Princess, departing Barcelona on an 11-day inaugural Western Mediterranean itinerary, the company said in a statement.

The 177,800-ton vessel accommodates 4,300 guests and becomes the 17th ship in the Princess Cruises fleet.

The itinerary includes stops in Marseille, Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples, Sicily, Cartagena (Spain), and Gibraltar before returning to Barcelona. Following a seven-day Mediterranean voyage, the ship is scheduled for a transatlantic crossing and will debut in Fort Lauderdale for a Caribbean season and official naming ceremony on November 6, 2025.

During winter 2025 through spring 2026, Star Princess will operate Caribbean cruises before repositioning to Seattle for its first Alaska Inside Passage season in summer 2026.
