The General Maritime Directorate of Colombia (Dimar) solemnly delivered to the Regional Port Society of Santa Marta S.A. the Declaration of Compliance with the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code), as a result of the exhaustive audit to verify the effectiveness of the port facility’s maritime security measures; the declaration was granted for the maximum issuance period.

In a formal ceremony in the city of Bogotá, D.C., at the Dimar facilities, Admiral John Fabio Giraldo Gallo, national director of Dimar, presented the high distinction to Álvaro Góngora, Vice President of Operations of the Port of Santa Marta.

“This important recognition is the result of teamwork from the Presidency of the Port of Santa Marta with the commitment of the Vice Presidency of Security headed by Carlos Suárez; and the Vice Presidency of Operations led by Álvaro Góngora; together with the empowered human team that is part of the Samarian port terminal. We recognize the work led by Admiral Giraldo Gallo, from Dimar, to ensure the protection of maritime operations, and the deferential recognition he gives us for complying with the high security standards we implement,” stated Domingo Chinea Barrera, president of the Port of Santa Marta.

This declaration began to be issued starting in 2004 when the ISPS Code was implemented; and the high recognition has been resumed this year 2025 on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the General Maritime Directorate of Colombia.
