During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday period, China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) subsidiary Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) delivered more good news—on October 8, the No. 2 50,000-ton methanol dual-fuel /product oil tanker built for ASP Shipping was successfully launched, dedicating the practical achievements to the National Day celebration.
Following the successful launch of the lead ship in this series at the end of September, the second “sister ship” was launched again within just a few days, fully demonstrating GSI’s efficient organization and lean management level in the construction of MR-type tankers, and further accelerating the “short, stable, fast” GSI pace. During the construction of the series ships, the project team successfully overcame the difficulties of parallel construction of two ships on the platform line, achieving continuous speed increase and efficiency improvement in shipbuilding.
Although the ship’s construction was affected by the adverse weather conditions of frequent typhoons, the project team did not wait or rely on others but faced the challenges head-on. While meticulously implementing typhoon and flood prevention measures, they scientifically adjusted the work schedule, demanding efficiency from management and milestones from time. Through precise planning, a series of key milestones were achieved during the platform line construction phase, including boiler ignition, generator load testing, and superstructure “lighting and white-out,” laying a solid foundation for subsequent commissioning.
