The transition of the presidency of the Young Shipowners’ Group of Confitarma, already made public in recent days, has now been celebrated with an ad hoc note from the association: Salvatore d’Amico (d’Amico Società di Navigazione) is succeeded by Marialaura Dell’Abate (Amoretti Armatori) for the two-year period 2025–2026.

In his farewell speech, Salvatore d’Amico retraced the most significant steps of his mandate, recalling the numerous initiatives promoted in these years—from international missions and institutional meetings with the Italian Navy and the Corps of the Harbour Master’s Office – Coast Guard, to the theme of the safety of Italian ships, up to awareness projects towards maritime professions and the training of young people. The outgoing president also strongly called attention to the role of seafarers, reiterating the need to guarantee them protection, dignity, and the full exercise of civil rights, including the right to vote, as a principle of democratic participation and active citizenship.

The new president thanked her predecessor for the work carried out and outlined the priorities for the next two years, enhancing the sense of continuity in the service of innovation and renewal. Among the priorities of her program: strengthening international relations and launching missions abroad, enhancing and protecting the well-being of maritime workers, and particular attention to the challenges of decarbonization, digitalization, and artificial intelligence, together with the analysis of the new geopolitical and market dynamics that are redefining global shipping.

“Young shipowners must be protagonists of change, combining innovation, responsibility, and continuity,” declared Marialaura Dell’Abate.

During the assembly, the new Board of Directors of the Young Group was also presented: alongside President Marialaura, the Board will be composed of Vice Presidents Chiara De Angelis, Andrea Cavo, and Lorenzo d’Amico.

The Board is completed by the councilors Andrea Poliseno, Giovanni Filippi, Giulia Palazzeschi, Nicolò Iguera, Alessandro Morace, Benedetta Pacella Grimaldi, and Alessandro Nava.

Angela Genovese also joins the Young Group, testifying to the continuous renewal and progressive expansion of the representation of young shipowners.

The General Director of Confitarma, Luca Sisto, expressed appreciation for the commitment and quality of the work carried out by the Young Group: “It represents the future of our association: competence, ethics, and passion must continue to guide its path,” he said.

The Assembly concluded with the presentation of an award to the outgoing president and, subsequently, with a joint convivial dinner with the senior Council of Confitarma at Spazio Novecento in Rome.
