Fratelli Cosulich has marked a groundbreaking milestone in sustainable maritime operations with the launch of Maya Cosulich the world’s first methanol-powered IMO II chemical bunker tanker. The vessel was successfully launched at Taizhou Maple Leaf Shipyard, symbolizing a major step forward in the global transition towards cleaner and more efficient marine fuels.

A Historic Launch and Meaningful Celebration

The launch ceremony of Maya Cosulich was a proud and symbolic occasion, graced by Ms. Hoe Sook Mei from Fratelli Cosulich Singapore, who served as the Godmother of the vessel. Her ceremonial ribbon-cutting released the ship into the water, marking a powerful moment of achievement shared by the team, shipyard partners, and guests.

Designed by SeaTech Solutions International Pte Ltd, Maya Cosulich incorporates advanced features such as diesel-electric propulsion, onboard battery storage, and dual mass flow meters (MFMs). Fully compliant with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s (MPA) methanol bunkering standards, the vessel sets a new benchmark for the safe and efficient delivery of alternative marine fuels. Upon her delivery to Singapore in late 2025, she will operate under time charter with TFG Marine becoming the first methanol dual-fuel bunker tanker to serve the Port of Singapore.

aDriving Innovation and Sustainability in Marine Fueling

The Maya Cosulich project showcases the power of collaboration and innovation in the energy transition. Developed through a partnership between Fratelli Cosulich Group, TFG Marine, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, and technical partners, the initiative highlights a shared dedication to advancing low-emission bunkering solutions.

Industry leaders have recognized the vessel’s importance in supporting sustainable growth. Kenneth Dam, Head of Bunkering at TFG Marine, emphasized how Maya Cosulich will strengthen Singapore’s bunkering market by offering reliable and transparent marine fuel supply while aiding the shift toward low-carbon alternatives. Guido Cardullo, Head of Marine Energy at Fratelli Cosulich Group, echoed this sentiment, calling the vessel a “symbol of our vision for the future of bunkering where sustainability and operational excellence go hand-in-hand.”

The launch of Maya Cosulich stands as a testament to Fratelli Cosulich’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, innovation, and collaboration. As the vessel prepares for delivery and operational service in Singapore, it embodies a new era of cleaner, safer, and more efficient bunkering practices. This milestone not only reaffirms the company’s leadership in marine energy transition but also signals that the shift to low-emission fuels is no longer a distant goal it is happening now.
