As soon as it arrives in the Mediterranean it will become part, on charter, of the fleet of one of the major oil companies

Rome – Accelerating the investment plan for strengthening its fleet, the Italian shipping group headed by the Brullo family is making a second move: less than seven months after taking delivery of an 18,000 dwt ton tanker completed by the Chinese shipyard Fujian Southeast Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. of Fujian and christened “Primo M”, Augusta Due, the shipping company of the Roman group specialized in the transport of liquid bulk products including petrochemicals and bio, has also finalized the purchase of a second, almost sister ship, equipped like the first with the most advanced characteristics in terms of emission reduction and fuel consumption reduction.

This too is a unit for the transport of petrochemical products recently completed at the same Chinese shipyard in Fujian. Having set off on its first voyage, the new ship, renamed “Ginostra M” with an overall length of 149 meters and 18,590 dwt, as soon as it arrives in the Mediterranean will become part, on charter, of the fleet of one of the major oil companies.

The “Ginostra M” is dual fuel methanol ready; it is in fact a new concept tanker that meets the most advanced technological requirements and is capable, with the same performance, (thanks to a particular propulsive efficiency) of halving the consumption of a ship of the same size built even just 5 years ago, while also meeting the most stringent international regulations. And precisely thanks to these technological characteristics on emissions, it will be able to operate in ECA areas (Northern Europe, USA and from May 2025 also the Mediterranean). The new tanker is also equipped with a shore power connection system, thus being able to perform commercial operations with the main engine and generators switched off.

“Our group – explained Raffaele and Gabriele Brullo – is now able to impose a sharp acceleration by anticipating the investments foreseen in the strengthening plan made possible by the complete financial recovery. The goal is to achieve a total renewal of the fleet within the next five years, thus responding with concrete facts to the trust that major charterers place in our reliability”
