At Kormarine 2025 in Busan, Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure introduced the SafeCaptain P-Series, a next-generation navigation suite designed to modernize aging vessels and protect against GPS spoofing.
Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has launched its new SafeCaptain P-Series fixed navigation units, a major addition to its digital navigation ecosystem aimed at making global shipping safer and more resilient. Introduced during Kormarine 2025 in Busan, the SafeCaptain P1 and P1+ systems expand on Trelleborg’s established SafePilot line, known for its use in Panama Canal transits.
The new P-Series directly tackles some of the maritime industry’s most pressing issues: aging vessels, congested waterways, and rising threats from GNSS jamming and spoofing. As more ships operate in crowded ports and sensitive regions, reliable navigation has become a critical concern.
“The SafeCaptain P-Series sets a new standard for how the maritime industry approaches navigation modernization,” said Tommy Mikkelsen, Managing Director for the Navigation and Piloting Division at Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure. “We’ve developed the P1 and P1+ solutions specifically to address the real-world challenges our customers face daily, from managing older vessels with outdated systems to protecting against sophisticated cyber threats targeting navigation infrastructure.”
The P1 unit provides core navigation functions including real-time positioning, rate-of-turn data, and live chart annotation for enhanced situational awareness. Its 200-meter Wi-Fi range allows remote monitoring and continuous updates, which help address the long-standing problem of outdated nautical charts.
The P1+ model builds on this with advanced protection against GPS jamming and spoofing. It ensures navigation data remains accurate and uncompromised even in high-risk environments. This level of resilience has become increasingly vital as global agencies report rising interference incidents, particularly in conflict zones.
Both units integrate seamlessly with the SafeCaptain software suite, creating a unified digital navigation ecosystem that supports both fixed and portable systems. The modular design allows operators to start with the P1’s essential features and later upgrade to the P1+ as operational needs evolve.
By combining reliable hardware with real-time digital integration, Trelleborg positions the SafeCaptain P-Series as a practical step toward safer, smarter, and more connected shipping. The units are now available through Trelleborg’s global distribution network.
