Hamburg – Tailwind Shipping Lines, the shipping company controlled by the German group Lidl, has formalized the expansion of its service on the East-West route, called Panda Express (Pax). The shipping line will introduce a new call at Port Klang (Port Kelang) in Malaysia, which will take on the function of a central transshipment hub for containers bound for Europe. The expansion, which aims to strengthen the efficiency and resilience of the supply chain, is in line with Lidl’s corporate strategy, which founded Tailwind in 2022 to independently manage the logistical challenges between the two continents.
The complete route of the Panda Express (Pax) service now includes the following calls, with Port Klang as the last Asian port: China (Qingdao, Ningbo, Dachan Bay), Malaysia (Port Klang), Europe (Barcelona, Koper). The Malaysian port will also serve as a connection and transshipment point for the inter-Asian Tiger Express (Tex) service, which covers the routes between Bangladesh (Chattogram), Malaysia (Port Klang), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City) and Sri Lanka (Colombo).
