On the morning of November 14th, CIMC Raffles held the naming ceremony for the 7,000-ceiling LNG dual-fuel PCTC (Pure Car and Truck Carrier) “NOCC PACIFIC” at its Longkou construction base.

This vessel is the first PCTC built by CIMC Raffles for the Norwegian shipowner Norwegian Car Carriers (NOCC), marking a significant milestone in the cooperation between the two parties and injecting new momentum into NOCC’s fleet upgrade and the global shipping industry’s green transition.

The “NOCC PACIFIC” has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 38 meters, a design draft of 8.6 meters, a design speed of 19 knots, and a loading capacity of 7,000 CEUs (Car Equivalent Units). It is equipped with two Type C LNG storage tanks and dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines, enabling zero emissions during port operations. The vessel has received the DNV “Ammonia Ready” notation, preparing it for the future use of lower-carbon fuels. During the construction process, CIMC Raffles implemented the “deck block shaping prioritized before side shell block integration” method for the first time, reducing hull plate deformation by over 15%, effectively improving construction accuracy and shortening the build cycle.

It is worth mentioning that in response to the surge in global new energy vehicle (NEV) sea transport volume and the ensuing new safety challenges, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has required classification societies to formulate specific safety standards, which are planned to become mandatory from January 2026. Against this backdrop, this vessel proactively incorporated design compliance for DNV’s “F(EV)” (Electric Vehicles) notation, making it the world’s first PCTC to meet this new standard and providing a safety benchmark for the international maritime transport of new energy vehicles.

In recent years, the CIMC Raffles Longkou construction base has become one of the world’s mainstream PCTC construction bases. CIMC Raffles has successively signed contracts for multiple series of PCTCs with Swedish shipping company Wallenius Lines, Greek shipping company Atlas Maritime, and Monaco-based international shipping company Zodiac Group. The “NOCC PACIFIC” is the 15th PCTC delivered by CIMC Raffles and the 7th PCTC delivered by the Longkou base in 2025, further consolidating CIMC Raffles’ batch delivery capability and leading position in the PCTC field.

NOCC is a professional vehicle shipping company under J.P. Morgan and was the world’s first shipping company to adopt PCTCs. At the naming ceremony, NOCC CEO Olav Sollie stated that the “NOCC PACIFIC” represents the most cutting-edge technology available today, marking another solid step forward for global shipping in improving energy efficiency and reducing its environmental footprint. He expressed that both the company and its clients highly recognize the construction quality of CIMC Raffles and look forward to expanding cooperation in the future to build more high-quality vessels.

“NOCC is an excellent shipowner with a long history and forward-looking vision. We currently have several cooperative projects,” said Wang Jianzhong, CEO and President of CIMC Raffles Group, at the naming ceremony. He added that CIMC Raffles always adheres to the philosophy of “ensuring good delivery and building iron-clad partnerships,” providing global partners with leading and reliable equipment and solutions.

With the naming and delivery of the “NOCC PACIFIC,” CIMC Raffles has once again demonstrated the strength and contribution of Chinese offshore enterprises in the global ocean economy through its solid EPC integration capabilities. Moving forward, the company will continue to deepen its innovation capabilities, expand its global market layout, and contribute to the low-carbon transition of the shipping industry and the upgrade of China’s offshore equipment manufacturing industry.
