ClassNK has issued an Approval in Principle for Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ new Safety /Unberthing Assistance System and granted an Innovation Endorsement to its Human-Machine Interface, confirming the technology meets ClassNK’s latest automated operation guidelines. The society also verified that its a-SAFE (BSS) notation can be applied to vessels using the system, signalling advanced safety capabilities. The approvals reflect ClassNK’s broader work to establish standards for automated and autonomous ship operations, building on its updated Guidelines for /Autonomous Operation of Ships (Version 2.0).
