The Port Authority of Castellón is attending the Logitrans trade fair, held in Istanbul, to enhance its commercial relations with Turkey, a country that has consolidated itself in 2025 as the main commercial partner of the Port of Castellón, a milestone that confirms the terminal’s growing positioning on Mediterranean routes.

In the January-October cumulative period, the total traffic between both territories amounts to 1,824,623 tons, which represents an increase of 1.58% compared to the same period the previous year and already accounts for 11.7% of the total goods moved by PortCastelló.

One of the most relevant data points is the containerized traffic with Turkey, which reaches 5,995 TEU, an increase of 24.77% compared to 2024. This indicator confirms the success of the Port Authority of Castellón’s strategy to strengthen general cargo and attract new lines and operators.

The President of the Authority, Rubén Ibáñez, stated that “Turkey is a priority market for PortCastelló. Its growth demonstrates that our strategy is working. The increase in containers and the confidence of shipping lines confirm that we are a competitive, reliable port, and prepared to continue growing.”

The Castellón delegation, headed by Ibáñez, the director Manuel J. García, and the Head of the Business Development Department, Adolfo Noguero, is using this mission to present to shipping lines, logistics operators, and sector agents the logistical and infrastructure opportunities offered by PortCastelló, as well as the progress of its expansion and modernization plan.

President Ibáñez indicated that “our presence at Logitrans responds to a clear strategy: to open new markets, strengthen cooperation with international shipping lines, and showcase the potential of a port that is growing in a sustainable, diversified, and connected manner.”

The Port Authority is taking advantage of the Logitrans fair to present the infrastructures that will strengthen PortCastelló’s connectivity and operational capacity, including the expansion of the southern basin, which will turn Castellón into the port in the Mediterranean arc with the largest available area for the installation of new companies and the development of a wind hub. It is also promoting the intermodal station currently under construction, which, together with the railway accesses to the port, will allow direct connection with the Mediterranean corridor and expand the hinterland to 26 provinces.

The fair is also an opportunity to showcase the reorganization of terminals in the port towards a more versatile and efficient model, and the rebate of up to 40% on the container rate, which reinforces the port’s competitiveness compared to other enclaves in the Mediterranean arc.

The fair also represents an opportunity to highlight the historic agreement reached between stevedores and terminals in the Port of Castellón, which will allow for the adjustment of operational costs, increased productivity, and reinforced competitiveness of container traffic. “This agreement places PortCastelló among the ports with the lowest costs in the Mediterranean arc and will generate a pulling effect to attract new regular lines and consolidate strategic traffic,” concluded Ibáñez.
