As part of a nationwide campaign that “traveled” to every corner of the country, NEE, as a contribution to society, created and distributed informational leaflets to all General and Vocational High Schools, a total of 1,830 schools.

A total of 345,000 students will be informed about careers at sea. An entire generation is now coming into contact with real, clear, and reliable information about what it means to follow the career path of a Merchant Navy Officer: the studies, the steps for admission to the Academies, career progression, opportunities, benefits, and the prospects that open up beyond the horizon.

And because young people speak a direct, fast, and authentic language, NEE prepared ten videos on its TikTok channel, featuring real Merchant Navy Officers. Through ship bridges, engine rooms, oceans, and ports of the world, they convey images, experiences, and emotions that are hard to fit into a leaflet. The sea speaks through the people who live it.

“At NEE, we are optimistic that, with the tangible support of the state – and particularly for this initiative, from the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy and the Ministry of Education – as well as with the priority given by all bodies, such as the Union of Greek Shipowners, maritime education and youth information have become a central priority. This way, we can all move forward decisively and realistically.

We have absolute confidence in the new generation. We just need to show them all the routes on the map. The new generation will choose its own path, with knowledge and its future as its compass,” states the president of NEE, Georgios Alexandratos.

The Hellenic Chamber of Shipping continues. New actions and initiatives are already being planned with a single purpose: to keep the doors open, to keep the horizons open, and to maintain a living connection between the country’s youth and the world of shipping, so that the journey of reliable information continuously gains more passengers.
