The information meeting organized within the scope of the single-finger pier and quay capacity increase and dredging activity project planned to be carried out by Rota Port Services Industry A.Ş., a subsidiary of Yılport Holding, in the Körfez district of Kocaeli, could not be held due to intense reactions.
Extensive security measures were taken for the meeting, which was scheduled to take place today at 10:00 at the Yarımca Culture Center. In the meeting hall, where various non-governmental organization representatives and numerous environmentalists had gathered, reactions were expressed against the project, stating that the increasing port density in the Gulf, ship traffic in the sea, and the TIR load on the highways could no longer be sustained.
The meeting ended shortly due to protests.
