Puerto Ventanas S.A. (PVSA), a subsidiary of the Sigdo Koppers group, was awarded the National Logistics Award 2025 in the Sustainable Logistics category. The recognition highlighted its modernization process and the development of its new solid bulk conveyor system.
“Among the 60 applications received by the organization, PVSA was distinguished for its modernization process and the development of its new solid bulk conveyor system, which has enhanced logistical efficiency for its strategic partners from various sectors, including mining, agribusiness, the energy sector and construction,” the company stated.
In line with the report, the new cargo transfer system features three mechanized belts almost two kilometers long, hermetic tubular belts, intelligent electrical systems with high-quality European Conformity (CE) electric motors with IE3 energy saving and efficiency certification.
The project also incorporates the actuation of each motor via frequency drives (VFD), which further reduces energy consumption, improves equipment performance and durability. “
This system has enabled a 30% reduction in electricity consumption and CO2e emissions per ton of cargo transferred. The technology implemented here is now the best available standard worldwide for bulk transfer,” assured PVSA.
Following the recognition, Jorge Oyarce Santibáñez, General Manager of PVSA, commented that “it is a pride to be highlighted today, as part of our 2030 Challenge is to continue enhancing ourselves as an intelligent port and to establish ourselves as a port network, therefore, having the best incorporated technology recognized drives us to continue boosting logistical efficiency and providing excellent, safe and environmentally responsible services for our clients and the country.”
The distinction was received by the Sustainable Operations Manager of PVSA, Luis Fuentes Martínez; and Héctor Campos, the port’s Maintenance Sub-Manager.
