Stena Line and Associated British Ports are set to begin work on a new freight ferry terminal at the Port of Immingham, according to the ABP’s release. The companies have announced a joint investment of more than £200 million in the project, which aims to support the growing unaccompanied freight market in the Humber region of England.

Immingham, located in Lincolnshire, has been developing into a strategic hub for Stena Line, which currently operates two daily services from the Humber region to the Netherlands, while ABP’s four Humber ports collectively represent the UK’s leading gateway for trade by volume.

The new Roll on – Roll off facility, named the Immingham Eastern RoRo Terminal, will offer access to the main Humber Estuary, reducing sailing times and enabling the use of larger vessels to meet rising demand from exporters and importers across the region and the wider UK.

Carl Johan Hellner, Chief Operating Officer for Ports and Terminals at Stena Line, said the company has already invested over £170 million in its Immingham operations over the past five years and remains focused on expanding capacity and service quality.

Stena Line is a ferry operator headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is part of the privately held Stena AB Group. The company manages passenger and freight services across multiple European regions and operates a fleet that serves routes in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean. Stena Line also maintains terminal operations connected to its maritime network.

Associated British Ports is a UK port operator that manages a network of ports in England, Scotland and Wales. The company oversees port infrastructure, logistics services and land assets linked to maritime trade. ABP is responsible for the operation, development and maintenance of port facilities across its portfolio.
