DP World signs letter of intent with the Women’s Network of Maritime Authorities of Latin America

DP World made its commitment to gender equity and female leadership official by signing a Letter of Intent with the Women’s Network of Maritime Authorities of Latin America (MAMLa).

“This agreement reinforces the company’s active role in promoting female talent, professional development, and the cultural transformation of the maritime-port sector in the region,” the company stated.

The symbolic signing took place at the Posorja Deep Water Port, with the participation of Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia; Macarena Cladera, President of the MAMLa Network; representatives from the National Directorate of Aquatic Spaces (Dirnea); and delegations from 19 countries.

“This meeting brought together strategic leaders of the industry and highlighted the importance of building work environments where equal opportunities and professional growth are central pillars,” the entity noted.

The partnership between DP World and MAMLa covers the operations in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia, establishing itself as a regional effort that drives more diverse, modern, and participatory work cultures, with a tangible impact on opening real opportunities for women within the sector.

“This integration enhances the capacity of both organizations to work in an articulated manner, accelerating initiatives that strengthen the presence, visibility, and leadership of women in the logistics and port chain of Latin America,” DP World reported.

“This purpose aligns directly with one of the pillars of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Wellbeing (DEIPB) strategy, Women@DPWorld, from where we actively promote the participation of women in key positions and drive their professional development and empowerment throughout the entire organization,” it added.

Through this Letter of Intent, DP World and the MAMLa Network commit to leading concrete actions aimed at strengthening female participation in the maritime-port sector.

This will be achieved through the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and best practices related to leadership, professional development, port management, and innovative logistics solutions.

As well as the development of programs, projects, and activities for technical training and mentorship, expanding growth opportunities for professional women in the region.

In addition to promoting joint visibility initiatives that recognize the contribution of women in the industry and strengthen their presence in representation and decision-making spaces.

In this regard, Lissette Morín, Vice President of Human Resources and Health of DP World in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia, stated that “This link with the MAMLa Network represents a profound and significant step towards an industry that embraces all people equally. It is a reminder that when we open spaces, trust, and promote new voices, our industry becomes stronger, more humane, and oriented towards better results.”
