Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K Line) conducted a fire drill on a Ro-Ro vessel docked at Daikoku-futo C4, Yokohama Port, managed by the Yokohama Port Corporation.

The vehicle transport ship Tethys Highway was the setting for the operation, carried out jointly with the Yokohama City Fire Department. It was the first drill in Japan to combat a fire on a docked vessel.

More than 100 people participated in the activity, which simulated an emergency situation where a fire broke out on board the vessel during cargo handling operations, with a missing crew member and the captain left on board.

The operation included various activities, such as identifying the origin of the fire using drones, searching for people needing rescue, spraying water from elevated positions and fireboats, confirming evacuation routes for operators and crews, practicing the use of the immediate notification system with relevant organizations and confirming its operational status, as well as the rescue of people stranded on board the vessel.
