The preliminary investigation process has been completed and the provisional administration imposed on the sixteen entities on the national territory has therefore been closed

The Ministry of Economy has approved the 2026 forecast budgets of the 16 Italian Port Authorities, thus allowing the Ministry of Transport to communicate to the entities the exit from the provisional administration. The hoped-for return to the ordinary regime will give the AdSPs the opportunity to restart planned activities and investments.

The MIT took the opportunity to polemically respond in a note to those who believed that the provisional administration could have frozen the initiatives of the presidents for several months. An instrumental wait, was the veiled accusation, to allow the upcoming port reform to transfer the direction of infrastructure investments to the new public company Porti d’Italia.

“Once again – the Ministry of Transport emphasized – someone has tried to superimpose narrative onto reality, fueling forced interpretations that have nothing to do with the facts. The truth is simple and documented: having completed the preliminary investigation process by the MEF, the MIT has approved the budgets of all 16 Port System Authorities. A step that represents neither an exception nor a critical issue, but the application of a consolidated practice, followed under governments of every political color, for correct oversight to protect transparency and the good management of public resources”.
