March 25th is one of the most important days for Greece, as it symbolizes the beginning of the Revolution of 1821 and the struggle for freedom and independence. It is a day of remembrance and honor for the heroes who sacrificed themselves, but also an opportunity to reflect on the values that timelessly define our national identity: faith, strength of spirit, and unity.
Within this spirit of national pride and emotion, the student parade in Messolonghi stood out, where a special presence managed this year as well to touch the hearts of everyone.
Yannis, a child with vision loss and simultaneously an honors Gymnasium student with a grade of 19 12/15, stood with dignity and pride holding the blue and white flag. His image was not just moving, but deeply symbolic.
He reminded us that true strength is not found in physical wholeness, but in the soul, in the will, and in faith in ourselves. With his stance, Yannis became an example to emulate for all. He showed how obstacles can be overcome when there is determination and how dignity is a way of life.
Special mention is deserved to the president of PEPIETH, Cpt. Dr. Giorgos Valls, who managed to realize one of Yannis’s dreams, offering him a unique moment of joy and recognition.
In a statement, the president mentions: “I feel proud that I contributed to this effort, giving him items of his beloved team, Olympiacos. Small gestures that, however, have great value, when directed at people with such great greatness of soul. Yannis, we are always by your side. We support you, we admire you, and we thank you for reminding us daily what strength, dignity, and true love for the homeland mean.”
Happy Birthday Greece!
