The tanker carrying 17 crew members, Turkish nationals, experienced a mechanical failure, resulting in it sending a distress signal and the search and rescue mechanism being placed on alert. It is carrying approximately 5,000 metric tons of petroleum products, while the Greek rescue vessel “Aigaion Pelagos” is nearby.
EKSEED appealed to passing vessels in the area to maintain heightened vigilance and be ready to provide assistance, should it become necessary. So far, no danger to the crew or marine pollution has been reported, while the competent authorities are closely monitoring the development of the incident.
