Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs published the “List of Designated Ports Open to Foreign Fishing Vessels (First Batch)”. According to the list, the specific berths opened at Fuzhou Port are Berths 3-6 of the home port terminal in the core area of the Fuzhou (Lianjiang) National Distant-Water Fishing Base.
It is understood that the Fuzhou (Lianjiang) National Distant-Water Fishing Base is the third national distant-water fishing base approved for construction by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Its core project—the home port project in the core area of the Fuzhou (Lianjiang) National Distant-Water Fishing Base—is a national major project and a key provincial and municipal project, with a total investment of 359 million yuan.
Berths 3-6 of the home port terminal in the core area of the base passed provincial acceptance inspection in March 2025. Among them, Berths 3-5 are 10,000-ton-class berths, and Berth 6 is a 5,000-ton-class berth, with an annual designed throughput capacity of 700,000 tons. They are mainly used to provide berthing, supply, and fishing catch loading and unloading services for distant-water fishing vessels and distant-water transport ships. This not only facilitates the return and trade of products from Fujian and around the world but also holds significant importance for promoting the construction of the marine economy development demonstration zone and fostering the healthy development of the marine economy and the distant-water fishing industry chain.
