Carus, a global leader in digital solutions for the maritime industry, has been selected to provide a complete IT suite for Hibernia Line’s new service between Cork and Boulogne-sur-Mer. Based in the Åland Islands, Carus will implement its full portfolio, including web bookings, mobile applications, onboard point-of-sale, and integrated payment solutions. This partnership ensures the Irish startup launches with a robust digital infrastructure, implemented in record time. Following scope definition activities in January, contracts were signed in March, and the booking solution was opened today, 7 May 2026.

Hibernia Line is an ambitious new ferry operator aiming to provide a vital direct link between Ireland and mainland Europe. Using chartered ferries, the Saint Patrick and the Akka, the service will offer daily sailings in both directions, starting in June 2026, to meet the growing demand for freight and passenger transport directly between Ireland and mainland European countries. The project is led by industry veteran Aidan Coffey, who brings extensive experience in successful maritime routes between Ireland and Europe.

“As a company with deep roots in the ferry industry, we always look at new projects with great enthusiasm,” says Anders Rundberg, CEO of Carus. “Hibernia Line represents an exciting opportunity to demonstrate how our end-to-end digital portfolio can scale alongside a startup’s vision. We are thrilled to support this new route and ensure a seamless journey for their customers.”

“We needed an established partner like Carus by our side to realize this project within the required timeframe,” adds Aidan Coffey, Managing Director of Hibernia Line. “Their expertise is invaluable as we build a professional offering that meets the high expectations of modern travelers and freight customers. This collaboration provides us with the platform to launch a world-class service connecting Ireland and the continent.”
