On the morning of May 9, the 5# 298,000-ton LNG dual-fuel powered VLCC built by Jiangsu New Times Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. slowly exited No. 2 dock and securely berthed at the quay, marking the successful completion of the vessel’s launching milestone.
The vessel launched this time is the first ship in the VLCC series ordered by the shipowner Andes at New Times Shipbuilding. This vessel type has an overall length of 332.95 meters, a molded breadth of 60 meters, a molded depth of 29.60 meters, a design draft of 20.50 meters, and a structural draft of 21.70 meters. It adopts LNG dual-fuel power technology, combining the advantages of green environmental protection and efficient operation.
As the first vessel in the series, its successful launch not only validates New Times Shipbuilding’s excellent construction craftsmanship and project management capabilities, but also lays a solid foundation for the continuous construction and delivery of subsequent sister ships. In the next step, the vessel will enter the quay outfitting and commissioning phase, steadily advancing towards the goal of on-time delivery.
