The Corío Port Project (Peru) was presented at a business forum with the aim of sparking interest among potential national and international investors. The presentation was led by the Regional Government of Arequipa, the National Port Authority, and the Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversión), and according to information provided by the Peruvian government, the future maritime terminal has reportedly aroused the interest of more than 350 businesspeople.

The event took place in Lima, titled “Southern Corridor of Peru,” where the regional governor of Arequipa, Rohel Sánchez, outlined the characteristics and strategic advantages of the initiative, such as its natural draft of between 20 and 29 meters in depth, in addition to the plan to establish a carbon-neutral hub, allocating 30 thousand hectares for the production of green hydrogen.

The governor took the opportunity to call on potential investors, stating that “we extend the invitation to interested countries and business groups, whether with governmental or private ties. The Regional Government of Arequipa is here to provide all necessary facilities.”

For his part, the executive president of ProInversión, Luis del Carpio, noted that “the Southern Corridor of Peru is one of the six strategic axes being promoted nationwide and currently involves the ports of Ilo, Matarani, and Marcona, linking five regions in the south of the country.”

To realize this initiative, a total investment of 7 billion dollars is projected.
