From May 12 to 14, the second domestically built large cruise ship, H1509, constructed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, successfully completed its first USPH third-party inspection. Shipowner, JVPC, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Director Zhang Xiaokai, and heads of various departments attended the inspection.

Through the concerted efforts of all company departments and relevant parties, the three-day inspection was successfully completed. Prior to this inspection, the statutory team led various departments and relevant parties in decomposing and digesting VSP standards, disseminating and studying the third-party inspection opinions from the first ship, conducting joint inspections of key areas, and identifying risk points and problem points in advance. This achieved forward management across stages including design, construction, and acceptance, ultimately earning high praise from third-party experts and the shipowner. Both parties stated that the H1509 is a high-quality, high-standard passenger ship comparable to current European cruise shipbuilding levels, with significant improvements and enhancements over the first ship.

The USPH inspection for this ship is divided into two phases: initial inspection and final inspection. It primarily focuses on inspecting the layout of catering service areas on all decks, the installation and testing of potable water systems and backflow prevention devices, entertainment water facilities and pool water treatment systems, ventilation arrangements, and waste treatment system projects. Key monitoring targets include the overall ship’s public health design, disease infection control, and food hygiene, which are important matters concerning the health and safety of passengers and crew. Aimed at “preventing epidemics, ensuring safety, strengthening compliance, and increasing trust,” it serves as the “health clearance certificate” for international cruise ships.

The successful completion of this inspection marks significant progress and improvement in the public health compliance management of large cruise ships built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent USPH final inspection and the smooth delivery of the ship in November.
