On May 14, the naming and delivery ceremony for the CV1000TEU container vessel No. 1 “Johanna Schepers”, built by China Merchants Shipbuilding Qingdao Shipyard for German owner AAC Company, was held.
Heino Schepers, Commercial Director of owner HS Company; Ewgeni Proscheligin, Technical Director; Ole Gabs, General Manager of owner AAC Company; Zhang Hongtao, General Manager of site supervisor OSM Company; Zhao Fangye, Supervision Manager; Li Jieming, Commercial Manager of shipbroker Haideli Company; Xu Yiping, Deputy Director of Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute; Liu Hongping, Deputy Director; Yu Junxian, Qingdao Regional Manager of DNV Classification Society; Peng Sheng, Executive Deputy General Manager of the company; Wei Enpeng, Chief Financial Officer; Ni Weisong, Zhang Jinbo, Hu Hang, Deputy General Managers; and representatives from the project team attended the ceremony.
Peng Sheng delivered a speech at the ceremony. He stated that Qingdao Shipyard is the core production base for China Merchants Shipbuilding to deepen and expand the international mainstream commercial shipbuilding market, and to accelerate the implementation and promotion of lean production. Since joining China Merchants Shipbuilding last year, the company has vigorously promoted digital and intelligent transformation, management system innovation, technical team building, and production facility upgrades, achieving a leap in project full-cycle management capability and production operation quality and efficiency, laying a solid foundation for beat-based shipbuilding and lean production. The successful delivery of this first CV1000TEU vessel fully demonstrates Qingdao Shipyard’s construction strength and履约能力 in the container ship building field, and has once again received high recognition from the international market. He expressed hope for continued deepening of exchanges and cooperation with the owner in the future, jointly creating more high-performance, green, and intelligent ships, and promoting the development of the international shipping industry.
Yu Junxian stated in his speech that during the construction of this vessel, DNV, with its professional technical strength, provided full-process quality control of the ship construction, ensuring efficient and orderly progress. During this period, he also witnessed a significant improvement in Qingdao Shipyard’s comprehensive capabilities in project overall management, on-site construction organization, and core technology breakthroughs. Subsequently, DNV will continue to provide professional technical services to safeguard the subsequent construction of the series vessels and fully ensure the overall construction quality of the project.
Heino Schepers stated in his speech that the “Johanna Schepers” is a high-quality vessel with superior performance, green energy efficiency, safety, and reliability. He expressed heartfelt thanks to the frontline workers, project management team, technical R&D team, and logistics support team of Qingdao Shipyard for their hard work and dedication in overcoming difficulties during the vessel’s construction. He looks forward to further deepening strategic cooperation and expanding cooperation fields with Qingdao Shipyard, jointly creating high-quality vessels to achieve mutual benefit, win-win results, and coordinated development.
Peng Sheng and Heino Schepers signed the vessel delivery documents on behalf of their respective parties and exchanged commemorative gifts, marking the official and successful delivery of the “Johanna Schepers” to the owner.
