The vessel Star Norge, flying the Norwegian flag, docked at the Port of Paranaguá to load 14,200 tons of cellulose. The ship, which has been on its maiden voyage since March after being launched in China, is the first in the G2 Ocean fleet prepared to use alternative fuels.

With a length of 225 meters, the Star Norge is the company’s largest vessel, with a capacity to transport up to 82,000 tons. Its arrival was celebrated by the companies involved in the operation and by the administration of Portos do Paraná.

“The investments made to deepen the access channel and the constant maintenance dredging campaigns allow larger vessels to operate in the ports of Paraná. This increases export capacity, improves competitiveness, and reduces logistics costs,” stated the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando García.

Angelo Spinelli, director of operations for G2 Ocean in South America, explains that the cranes on this model can handle heavier loads. Another difference lies in the holds, which can accommodate a larger volume of cargo compared to conventional vessels.

To celebrate the arrival of the vessel, the Director of Port Operations at Portos do Paraná, Gabriel Vieira, presented Captain Romeo Bautista with a plaque bearing the coat of arms of the state-owned company, officially recording the docking in Paranaguá.

“The first voyage of a ship loaded in Paranaguá is a source of pride for all of us. It represents the result of dedication, commitment, and, above all, demonstrates the trust of the companies that operate in our ports,” emphasized the director.

The vessel, which will now become part of a cellulose transport route, headed to the Port of Santos and will subsequently continue its journey towards the Asian continent.
