Puertos del Estado and the Port Authority of A Coruña are finalizing the details of the agreement for the restructuring of the credit subscribed between both entities to finance the construction of the outer port, as they reported this Thursday in a joint statement. The agreement was discussed within the framework of the meetings that Puertos del Estado is holding these days with the 28 port authorities to analyze the business plans of the Spanish port system, and which must subsequently be endorsed by the Governing Council of Puertos del Estado.
According to the statement, the restructuring of the credit has “special relevance” for the Port Authority of A Coruña, since it will make available an extra 20 million euros between 2027 and 2030. “With this, the Port Authority of A Coruña ensures financial capacity to undertake the investments planned in the outer port and, furthermore, to continue with the renovation and maintenance works that are necessary on the docks and land surfaces of the inner port.”
Under current conditions, between 2027 and 2030 the Port Authority had to amortize a total of 36.5 million euros of the loan subscribed with Puertos del Estado. Now, with the restructuring being advanced between both entities, 16.5 million euros will be amortized in this period, thus generating 20 million euros for investments. This amount will be recovered with higher amortizations in later years, when the development of the projects that are underway leads to higher revenues “and, therefore, greater capacity of the Port Authority to face all its commitments.”
In the investments chapter, the Business Plan of AP A Coruña foresees as “most relevant” actions the completion of the railway access to Punta Langosteira and the commissioning of the southern area of the dock with the provision of a new quay and esplanades for the deployment of industries linked to offshore wind.
It should be recalled that the Port Authority of A Coruña will receive 97.5 million euros from Next Generation European funds from the Port Eol-Mar project, promoted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge in coordination with Puertos del Estado.
